Funeral services for Mr. Louis Preston McLendon, Jr., affectionately known as “Mac,” of Wrightsville, Georgia,
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was the son of the late Louis P. McLendon, Sr. and Doretha V. McLendon (Mincey). Mac was a graduate of Alfred E. Beach High School, Class of 1965, and served honorably in the United States Navy and the National Air Guard. He dedicated 32 years to the Savannah Fire Department, retiring in 2000, as the city’s first African American Chief Arson Investigator. He was a faithful Deacon at Harrison Spring Baptist Church.
Mr. McLendon entered eternal rest on February 17, 2026, at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie Mae McLendon; his mother, Doretha V. McLendon; children, Louis Preston McLendon, III (Roena “Peaches”), Melinda Ann Pullen, and Brianna S. Causey (Ronald); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings; and a host of extended family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday February 28, 2026,
at the Frank H. & Frenchye M. Bynes Memorial Chapel.
